Boris grows Bigger, while Schooner grows Younger! (February 2010)
For the past few months we’ve all been worried about Schooner. He was losing weight and his fur felt dry. To the amazement of all of us younger cats, there were days when Schooner didn’t seem interested in eating or even in playing.
SO Schooner went off to the veterinary clinic for 48 hours. We missed him, but Pat explained it was important that he be put on IV fluids to lower his phosphorus levels.
When Schooner came home, we were SO happy to see that he was obviously feeling MUCH better. In fact, every day since his return, he has seemed to grow younger and stronger. His fur is soft and fluffy again and even his tail seems longer! Pat says he has to be on a special diet now and we are not supposed to eat his food.
These next pictures are a bit blurry because Schooner was in a playful mood and wouldn’t sit still for the camera. But look at the expression on his face:
We are so glad that he is again enjoying his toys:
Schooner will be 17 years old on March 1 and we will certainly celebrate!
Meanwhile, Boris, who was born in November 2008 (the same month Schooner came to live with us!), has now grown larger than his mother Natasha. Here are some pictures of Boris as a baby:

Happy birthday, Schooner! We hope you have a wonderful day, with lots of special treats and cuddles. :-)
It's nice to "meet" you all, our human lived in Halifax for 16 years and her mother still is there. She (we) are in southeastern Ontario now, though.
A big Happy Birthday to you Schooner and you are looking really good since you had your fluids. Hope your good health continues. You sure are a handsome boy.
Happy Birthday to Schooner!! You are a handsome fella...

Happy Birthday, Schooner. We're glad you're feeling better.
Your little brother, Boris, looks like he'd take good care of you. Hershey is probably a big help, too.
Happy Birthday from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde!! Many many purrrrs for the coming year!!
PS our late 'brother' Christopher T. Cat, who we lost 5 years ago, also had kidney disease so we also had to learn not to eat his food!! We thought it smelled whole lots better than ours!!
Hi ya, Schooner! Glad you are feeling better! We hear it's your birthday today. Happy Birthday! We hope you have great day!!

Happy Birthday, Schooner!
Mum was excited to see that you live in Charlottetown- she loved visiting there a few years ago.
We don't blog much anymore, but will visit you folks often.
We're always glad to meet new kitties.

It's great that Schooner is doing so much better!
Boris is a cutie, though he'd probably prefer "mancatly" or something more appropriate.
Happy 17th!!!! That's a grand age. And you look wonderful too.
Hi Schooner and everycat! I hope you have a great birthday Schooner, 17 is a very impressive age!
